Gustav Prusak
Partner
Buys and sells businesses for owners, from the letter of intent to the first months after closing.
Gustav has spent his career on the purchase and sale of businesses small enough that the owner signs the papers personally: restaurants, machine shops, landscaping outfits, dental practices, software companies with a dozen people. He usually represents the buyer, and he reads the seller’s books the way a buyer’s lender will.
He joined Petra two years after she opened, when the companies she had formed started buying each other.

How Gustav works
Before a letter of intent is signed, Gustav asks for three years of tax returns and the five largest customer contracts. Most deals that go wrong were wrong before anyone signed the letter.
He keeps a closing checklist the buyer can see, with every open item, who owns it and the date it is due.
