Outside general counsel

A ring a year: outside general counsel

A company too small for its own lawyer still signs contracts every week. For a monthly fee, we act as its lawyer: we read what comes in, keep its papers current and look over the whole company once a year.

Owners on outside counsel call before they sign, not after. Each month covers a set number of contracts and questions, agreed in advance, and once a year we sit down with the owner and go through the company agreement, the main contracts, the policies and the filings, so small problems are fixed while they’re still small.

What outside counsel covers each month

  • Contract review

Leases, vendor and customer agreements, contractor agreements and the terms on your website, read and returned with a short note.

  • Employment policies

Offer letters, contractor or employee decisions, and a handbook written for how the business actually runs.

  • The yearly review

An afternoon each year with the owner: the company agreement, the main contracts, the filings and anything that changed.

  • A first call

When a customer stops paying or a partner wants out, you call us first, and we tell you whether you need more than a letter.
