Petra Strickler
Founding partner
Forms companies and writes the agreements founders live under.
Petra opened the firm on Baylor Street after eight years drafting company agreements for other people’s clients and watching too many of them get signed unread. Most of her week goes to founders: two or three people with an idea, a little money and no paperwork. She sits them down together, asks who decides what when they disagree, and writes the answer into the agreement before anyone has a reason to argue about it.
She also leads the firm’s outside general counsel work, so the companies she forms tend to stay with her for years.

How Petra works
Petra meets every founder of a new company, not only the one who called. An agreement that only one founder understands is a draft, not an agreement.
She sends a plain-English summary with every document: what it says, what it leaves out, and the two or three clauses worth rereading before you sign.
